Rome – Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni praised on Wednesday the significant momentum characterizing Algerian-Italian relations in recent years.
Speaking alongside President Abdelmadjid Tebboune at the closing session of the Algerian-Italian Business Forum in Rome, Prime Minister Meloni stated: “The relationship between Italy and Algeria has never been as strong and robust as it is today.” She highlighted that economic ties between the two nations have “significantly strengthened in recent years,” noting that Italy is currently “Algeria’s number one customer.”
Despite these “positive figures,” she stressed the need to intensify cooperation even further, emphasizing Algeria’s “essential role in ensuring not only Italy’s but also Europe’s energy security.”
Prime Minister Meloni also described President Tebboune as “a highly capable leader,” expressing gratitude on behalf of the Italian people and businesses for his efforts in boosting bilateral cooperation.
She affirmed her belief that “the Algerian and Italian peoples will reap even greater mutual benefits by seizing every available opportunity,” grounded in the “historic friendship between the two countries.”
Meloni concluded by underscoring that the “Algeria-Italy cooperation model has the potential to foster growth,” building upon the legacy of Enrico Mattei through the realization of “numerous projects that complement the positive pace of these rich bilateral relations.”
