The latest issue of Algeria’s Official Gazette has published two pivotal laws: one addressing the prevention and combating of money laundering and terrorism financing, and the other safeguarding personal data. Law No. 25-10 emphasizes the continuous evaluation and updating of national and sector-specific risks related to money laundering, terrorism financing, and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. It mandates the sharing of risk assessment outcomes with relevant authorities and entities, in accordance with data protection legislation. Meanwhile, Law No. 25-11 focuses on protecting individuals in the processing of personal data, covering rights of data subjects, breaches, data handling for crime prevention and prosecution, and rules for cross-border data transfers.
