Rzeig Discusses Support Mechanisms for Economic Actors with Algerian Trade Union Delegation

Algiers – Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion Kamel Rzeig received a delegation from the General Union of Algerian Traders and Craftsmen, led by its Secretary-General Issam Bedrissi, to discuss the concerns of economic operators in import and export activities and the mechanisms designed to support them, according to a statement issued Tuesday by the ministry.

The meeting, which included representatives from the Union’s Importers and Exporters Federations, forms part of an ongoing series of consultative sessions the minister has been holding with various economic and social partners.

During the discussions, Minister Rzeig affirmed that involving professional organizations is a “fundamental pillar” in implementing Algeria’s national strategy for export promotion and for structuring the domestic market. This approach aligns with the government’s broader vision under President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to strengthen national production, reduce dependence on imports, and reinforce Algeria’s economic sovereignty in the face of regional pressures.

For his part, Bedrissi expressed his appreciation for the “spirit of openness and dialogue” adopted by the ministry, confirming the Union’s commitment to continue coordination and to put forward “constructive proposals” aimed at developing commercial activity and supporting the national economy, in full harmony with Algeria’s strategy of economic independence and trade diversification.
