Algeria Boosts Agricultural Exports with Equipment & Support

Algeria is taking concrete steps to strengthen its agricultural sector and boost exports through enhanced coordination between key government ministries. A coordination meeting was held on October 10, 2025, between representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Fisheries to address critical issues surrounding the availability of agricultural equipment and support for exporters.

The meeting, as detailed in a press release issued by the Ministry of Trade, focused on streamlining the process of providing essential machinery and equipment to farmers, as well as facilitating the export of Algerian agricultural products to international markets. The meeting was co-chaired by Abdel Salam Djahnit, in charge of managing the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, and Hamid Ben Saaid, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Fisheries, with the participation of senior officials from both ministries.

According to sources, the discussions centered on addressing the concerns of operators involved in the import of agricultural equipment, machinery, and spare parts. The meeting provided a platform for stakeholders to voice their challenges and propose solutions to improve the efficiency of the import process.

Furthermore, the meeting addressed the burgeoning export activity of Algerian agricultural products. With several agricultural products experiencing a surplus in production, the focus shifted to developing a clear and effective methodology for supporting exporters. The aim is to streamline export operations and eliminate bureaucratic hurdles, enabling Algerian producers to access international markets more easily and efficiently. This collaborative approach aims to capitalize on the country’s agricultural potential and solidify its position as a reliable exporter of high-quality agricultural goods. The initiative underscores the Algerian government’s commitment to fostering a thriving agricultural sector and diversifying its export portfolio. The next steps involve implementing the agreed-upon strategies and monitoring their effectiveness in achieving the desired outcomes.
