The Algerian national football team concluded their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign with a deserved victory over Uganda, sealing the match 2–1 at the Hussein Aït Ahmed Stadium in Tizi Ouzou on Tuesday evening, in the tenth and final round of qualifiers.
The match started with a setback for Algeria, as Ugandan striker Mukwala scored in the 6th minute, giving the visitors an early lead. However, the “Desert Warriors” showed resilience and determination, overturning the result thanks to two precise penalty kicks from Mohamed Amoura in the 81st minute and during stoppage time at 90+8. With this comeback, the team asserted its right to compete at the 2026 World Cup, marking its fifth appearance in the tournament’s history.
Under coach Petkovic, this victory is crucial not only for qualification but also for increasing Algeria’s points tally, which will boost their FIFA ranking ahead of the draw scheduled for December 5 in Washington.
