ETUSA Extends Services for Algeria’s Revolution Day Celebrations: A Special Program for Citizens

Algiers, Algeria – In commemoration of the 71st anniversary of the outbreak of the glorious Algerian Revolution, the Public Establishment for Urban and Suburban Transport of Algiers (ETUSA) has announced a special program designed to facilitate citizen participation in the planned festivities. The initiative, unveiled on Thursday, aims to provide extended transportation options, allowing residents to fully immerse themselves in the commemorative events organized by the Wilaya of Algiers.

Under the banner of “A Message to Generations,” ETUSA’s program will significantly extend the operating hours of its night bus routes until 2:00 AM. This extension ensures that individuals attending evening events and celebrations will have reliable transportation options available to them well into the night. Furthermore, ETUSA will be providing dedicated bus services to the “1st of May” station from several key locations across the Algiers metropolitan area.

The designated routes will originate from Ben Aknoun, Khemis El Khechna (passing through Hamadi), Reghaia (passing through Rouiba), Sidi Moussa (passing through Baraki), Sidi Abdellah, and Hai Rais (passing through Khelitous). Additionally, direct services will be available from Miftah and Larbaa. This comprehensive network aims to connect a wide range of neighborhoods and municipalities with the central celebration hub at the 1st of May station.

According to an official statement released by ETUSA, the special bus services will commence at 7:00 PM. A flat fare of 50 Algerian Dinars (DZD) has been set for the special routes, making the service affordable and accessible to a broad segment of the population. This price point reflects ETUSA’s commitment to providing public transportation options that are both convenient and economical, particularly during significant national holidays.

This initiative by ETUSA is not merely a logistical undertaking; it is a symbolic gesture of solidarity with the spirit of the Algerian Revolution. By ensuring that citizens have the means to participate in the commemorations, ETUSA is actively contributing to the preservation and transmission of the nation’s historical memory. The extended operating hours and strategically planned routes demonstrate a clear understanding of the importance of facilitating widespread participation in national celebrations.

The 1st of November holds immense significance in Algerian history, marking the day in 1954 when the National Liberation Front (FLN) launched its armed struggle against French colonial rule. This pivotal moment ignited a seven-and-a-half-year war that ultimately led to Algeria’s independence in 1962. The annual commemoration of this date is a solemn occasion, marked by parades, speeches, cultural performances, and reflections on the sacrifices made by those who fought for Algeria’s freedom.

Beyond the immediate practical benefits of providing transportation, ETUSA’s initiative serves as a reminder of the values and principles that underpin Algerian society. The theme of “A Message to Generations” underscores the importance of passing on the legacy of the revolution to younger generations, ensuring that they understand the sacrifices made by their predecessors and appreciate the hard-won independence that they enjoy today.

The ETUSA program reflects a broader effort by the Algerian government and various institutions to ensure that the memory of the revolution remains vibrant and relevant in contemporary society. These efforts include the preservation of historical sites, the promotion of educational programs, and the support of cultural initiatives that celebrate Algerian identity and heritage.

As Algeria prepares to mark the 71st anniversary of the revolution, ETUSA’s contribution stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of national unity and the commitment to honoring the sacrifices of the past. The extended bus services will not only facilitate participation in the celebrations but will also serve as a symbolic reminder of the progress and development that Algeria has achieved since gaining its independence. In a nation deeply proud of its history and fiercely protective of its sovereignty, initiatives like this play a vital role in shaping national identity and fostering a sense of shared purpose among its citizens. The special ETUSA program is expected to be widely used, contributing significantly to the success of the planned commemorative events and ensuring that the spirit of the 1st of November resonates throughout Algiers and the entire nation. The program demonstrates a practical commitment to ensuring all citizens can participate in remembering and celebrating this pivotal moment in Algerian history.
