Mostaganem, Algeria – A prostitution ring operating in Mostaganem has been dismantled by local police, DZWatch has learned. The operation, conducted by officers of the Second Urban Security Division, resulted in the arrest of six individuals – three men and three women – allegedly involved in organized prostitution.
According to a statement released by the Mostaganem police, the investigation was initiated following a complaint filed by the guardian of a minor. The complaint alleged that the minor had been held against her will and exploited for prostitution by one of the suspects, a resident of a working-class neighborhood in Mostaganem.
Following the complaint, investigators gathered intelligence and developed a security plan. Under the supervision of the local prosecutor’s office, police apprehended the primary suspect and her alleged accomplices. During the operation, authorities seized 43 psychotropic pills, two plates containing traces of cocaine, a CD containing pornographic material, and other items reportedly used in prostitution.
The subsequent investigation revealed that the primary suspect allegedly exploited the minor for prostitution, offering her to clients for agreed-upon sums of money. The suspect is also accused of coercing the minor into consuming psychotropic drugs and cocaine. The statement further alleges the minor was threatened to ensure compliance.
Following the completion of legal procedures, the suspects were presented before the competent judicial authorities. They face charges including forming a criminal association with the intent to commit a felony, enticing a minor, unlawful confinement, exploitation of a minor for prostitution under duress, and forcing the consumption of narcotics and psychotropic substances. Authorities also seized psychotropic pills intended for distribution.
