Arkab to Address Future of Oil & Gas in Brazzaville

Brazzaville, November 3, 2025 – Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, will participate in the 48th Ministerial Council Meeting of the African Petroleum Producers Organization (APPO) in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, starting tomorrow, Tuesday.

According to a statement from the Ministry, the meeting will address strategic issues concerning the future of the oil and gas industry in Africa. Key topics include an assessment of APPO’s activities throughout 2025, and consideration of the 2026 work program and budget. The 2026 program emphasizes enhanced technical cooperation, the development of local content, and support for the establishment of the African Energy Bank as a financing mechanism dedicated to energy infrastructure projects across the continent.

The agenda, the source adds, also includes discussions on the organization’s institutional reform project, updating its long-term vision and strategy, and the adoption of the report concerning the nomination of the new Secretary-General of APPO. The council will also elect the presidency and executive bodies for the upcoming term.

This meeting coincides with the fourth edition of the African Content Exhibition and Conference, taking place in Brazzaville from November 4th to 7th, 2025, under the patronage of Denis Sassou Nguesso, President of the Republic of Congo. This continental event serves as a pivotal platform for exchanging expertise on developing local content within the oil and gas industries and promoting the participation of African businesses in the oil and gas value chains.

Minister Arkab’s presence underscores Algeria’s commitment to fostering collaboration and sustainable development within the African energy sector.
