Algeria to Build 360,000 New Homes by 2026

ALGIERS – The Algerian government has announced ambitious plans to construct 360,000 new housing units as part of the 2026 financial law. The Minister of Housing, Urban Planning, and the City, Mohamed Tarek Belaribi, revealed details of the extensive housing program, which aims to address the country’s growing housing needs.

The program encompasses various housing formulas to cater to different segments of the population. According to the Minister, the initiative includes:

  • 10,000 units of public rental housing
  • 30,000 rural housing units
  • 300,000 units under the AADL (Agence d’Amélioration et de Développement du Logement) rent-to-own scheme
  • 20,000 subsidies within the framework of social land divisions

This diversified approach aims to provide housing solutions for a wide range of citizens, from low-income families to those seeking homeownership opportunities.

In addition to the housing construction, the financial law also allocates resources for the development of essential public facilities to support integrated residential areas and urban centers. The program includes the construction of 430 public facilities, distributed as follows:

  • 200 primary schools
  • 80 middle schools
  • 50 high schools
  • 30 polyclinics
  • 30 headquarters for the National Gendarmerie
  • 40 headquarters for the National Security forces

This comprehensive plan underscores the government’s commitment to improving living conditions and providing access to essential services for all Algerians. The development of these crucial public amenities will ensure that new residential areas are well-equipped to meet the needs of their residents.
