DZWatch Exclusive: The Ministry of National Education has released the official schedule for the end-of-term examinations for the 2025/2026 academic year. This directive, disseminated to education directorates nationwide, aims to streamline the examination process and ensure consistent pedagogical progress across all educational levels.
For primary school students in the fourth and fifth grades, the first term examinations are scheduled to take place from December 7th to December 11th, 2025. The second term examinations will follow from March 8th to March 12th, 2026. The final term examinations for primary students are slated for May 17th to May 21st, 2026.
Middle school students in the first, second, and third years will undertake their first term examinations during the same period as primary students: December 7th to December 11th, 2025. Second term examinations are also aligned, taking place from March 8th to March 12th, 2026. The third term examinations for these middle school grades will be held from May 17th to May 21st, 2026. Fourth-year middle school students will have a slightly adjusted schedule for their final term examinations, from May 11th to May 13th, 2026.
High school students will sit for their first term examinations from December 7th to December 11th, 2025, and their second term examinations from March 8th to March 12th, 2026. The third term examinations for first and second-year high school students are scheduled for May 17th to May 21st, 2026, while third-year high school students will complete their final exams from May 10th to May 14th, 2026.
Crucially, the Ministry has also designated June 22nd and 23rd, 2026, as the dates for make-up examinations across all educational stages. These retake opportunities are available to final-year primary students, first, second, and third-year middle school students, and first and second-year high school students.
The Ministry of National Education emphasized the importance of adhering strictly to this schedule. Schools are instructed to promptly inform students and their parents of these dates. Moreover, the Ministry stressed the need to create a fair and organized testing environment that supports student learning and addresses any areas of weakness, ensuring academic success for all.
