Algiers – Algeria and the United States are exploring avenues to deepen collaboration in the manufacturing of equipment and supplies for the energy sector. This was the central theme of discussions held Wednesday between Mohamed Arkab, Algeria’s Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, and Elizabeth Moore Aubin, the United States Ambassador to Algeria.
The meeting, which took place in Algiers, focused on strengthening Algerian-American relations, particularly within the hydrocarbons and mining sectors. According to a statement released by the Ministry, both parties expressed a strong interest in identifying opportunities to expand cooperation in the production of equipment and technologies related to the oil and gas industry.
“The discussions were fruitful and highlighted the mutual desire to foster a stronger partnership between Algeria and the United States in the crucial energy sector,” a ministry spokesperson stated. The potential for joint ventures and technology transfer in the manufacturing of specialized equipment was reportedly a key area of focus.
This initiative aligns with Algeria’s broader strategy to enhance domestic manufacturing capabilities and reduce reliance on imports. By partnering with experienced American companies, Algeria aims to modernize its energy infrastructure and create new opportunities for local businesses. The talks signal a positive step towards closer economic ties between the two nations.
Further discussions are expected in the coming months to explore specific projects and initiatives that can facilitate this expanded cooperation.
