Algiers, October 14, 2025 – Minister of Labor, Employment, and Social Security, Abdelhak Saihi, has called for a radical shift away from traditional management styles within the National Employment Agency (ANEM). The Minister made the remarks during an evaluation meeting held at the Ministry headquarters, a session dedicated to assessing the agency’s activities as part of ongoing efforts to monitor the implementation of the sector’s roadmap.
According to a statement released by the Ministry, Minister Saihi emphasized the critical importance of these periodic evaluation meetings. He described them as a vital mechanism for enhancing the performance of entities under the Ministry’s supervision and ensuring the delivery of high-quality public services. These meetings allow for the identification of challenges and obstacles that may impede the achievement of set objectives.
During the session, the Director-General of ANEM presented a comprehensive report on the agency’s activities for the year 2025. The report highlighted the agency’s digital transformation initiatives, particularly the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies into its services. This integration aims to enhance the effectiveness of job placement services and expedite responses to job seekers’ requests.
Minister Saihi issued firm directives, emphasizing the need to redouble efforts and keep pace with the country’s evolving economic landscape. He urged the agency to accelerate the processing of job seekers’ applications and to develop a short-to-medium-term action plan focused on improving the agency’s performance and increasing its capacity to address unemployment.
The Minister stressed the importance of effective coordination with economic sectors that generate job opportunities. This collaboration is crucial for providing stable and suitable employment opportunities for national talent. He also highlighted the need to support beneficiaries of unemployment benefits to ensure their integration into the labor market in positions that align with their skills and qualifications.
Furthermore, Minister Saihi underscored the necessity of improving the quality of public services by developing user-friendly digital platforms powered by AI technologies. This aims to streamline administrative procedures, aligning with a modern and efficient vision of bringing the administration closer to the citizens and reinforcing the principle of “administration serving the citizen.” He called for enhanced coordination across various sectors, a move away from traditional management methods, and a focus on deepening the digitalization process.
Minister Saihi concluded the meeting by urging officials to adopt a new management vision focused on combating negative practices, improving responsiveness to citizens’ expectations through the development of interactive and intelligent services, and enhancing the human aspect of interactions with citizens. This reflects the state’s commitment to serving everyone without exception, within the social dimension of the Algerian state.
