Clashes in Latakia Leave Syrian Security Forces Injured

Latakia Province, Syria – Three members of the Syrian Internal Security Forces were injured during clashes with remnants of the former regime in Jableh, located in the Latakia countryside along the Mediterranean coast, according to a security source quoted by Syrian state media.

The Ministry of Interior also announced the arrest of individuals belonging to an “outlaw group” in the Tartus countryside, also on the Mediterranean coast. These individuals were reportedly entrenched in a mountainous area.

According to the Syrian Interior Ministry, security forces seized a quantity of weapons and ammunition that were in the group’s possession during the operation. The new Syrian government is currently working to stabilize the security situation throughout the country and pursue remnants of the ousted regime who are allegedly instigating security disturbances, particularly in the coastal region, which was a stronghold of senior officers of the Bashar al-Assad regime and his sect.

Syrian revolutionaries entered the capital, Damascus, on December 8th of last year, declaring the overthrow of the Bashar al-Assad regime (2000-2024), who inherited power from his father, Hafez al-Assad (1970-2000). During their respective tenures, the Ba’ath regime imposed a strict security grip and committed widespread human rights violations. Many Syrians consider the day of their liberation from his rule a national holiday.
