Algerian Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui traveled to Tipaza province overnight Thursday to Friday to monitor the ongoing efforts to extinguish wildfires raging in several municipalities in the western part of the province.
The Prime Minister’s first stop was the municipality of Hadjera Ennous, west of Tipaza, where he received detailed briefings on the firefighting operations from the Director-General of Civil Protection, Colonel Boualem Boughlef. He then proceeded to the municipality of Messelmoun to assess the situation at the fire fronts firsthand.
Civil Protection services, in coordination with various state agencies and personnel from the People’s National Army, have deployed significant human and material resources, including firefighting aircraft, to control the blazes that have erupted in several forests in the western municipalities of Tipaza province.
Firefighting operations are continuing in a number of locations across Tipaza province, including the Douar Boukhlidja forest in the municipality of Larhat, the Amarcha forest fire in the municipality of Messelmoun, and the Douar Choula fire in the municipality of Beni Millek, according to Civil Protection sources.
Authorities are urging citizens to exercise caution, avoid approaching fire-affected areas, and immediately report any new outbreaks by calling the emergency number 14 or the green number 1021.
