Algiers – Sonatrach, Algeria’s national oil and gas company, has signed a new agreement with Czech energy company ČEZ to extend the supply of natural gas to the Czech Republic. The agreement, announced today, ensures a continued flow of Algerian gas to the Czech market for an additional year, commencing October 1st, 2025.
The gas will be delivered via the Trans-Mediterranean Pipeline, which connects Algeria to Italy, and subsequently to Central Europe.
According to a statement released by Sonatrach, this agreement solidifies the company’s position in the Czech market and underscores its commitment to meeting the rising demand for natural gas in Europe, particularly in Central European nations. This extension is a testament to the reliability of Algerian gas supplies.
“This agreement not only reinforces Algeria’s presence in the international energy arena but also reflects our dedication to expanding bilateral economic cooperation to new heights,” the Sonatrach statement emphasized.
The deal highlights Algeria’s crucial role as a key energy provider to Europe. It also demonstrates the ongoing strategic partnership between Algeria and the Czech Republic in the energy sector.
