Algiers – The number of agricultural investments connected to the national electricity grid has surpassed 100,000 since 2020. This milestone was announced today in Algiers by the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mourad Adjal.
Minister Adjal emphasized the sector’s ongoing efforts to contribute to the strengthening of national agricultural production. The connection of these agricultural ventures to the electricity grid is a crucial step in modernizing farming practices and boosting overall productivity.
“This achievement reflects the government’s commitment to supporting the agricultural sector through improved infrastructure and access to reliable energy,” stated Minister Adjal. He further highlighted the positive impact this initiative has on rural development and job creation within the agricultural industry.
The Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies views the electrification of agricultural investments as a key component of its broader strategy to promote sustainable development and diversify the national economy. By providing farmers with access to a stable and efficient energy supply, the government aims to enhance agricultural yields, reduce operational costs, and improve the competitiveness of Algerian agricultural products in both domestic and international markets.
This initiative also contributes to the reduction of reliance on traditional energy sources in the agricultural sector, paving the way for a more environmentally friendly and sustainable approach to farming. The Ministry is actively working on expanding the electricity grid to reach more agricultural areas, ensuring that even more farmers can benefit from this vital resource.
The surpassing of the 100,000 mark represents a significant achievement and underscores the government’s dedication to supporting the agricultural sector as a key driver of economic growth and food security.
