Furthermore, President Tebboune ordered an immediate investigation into the recent wave of wildfires that affected several provinces across the country. The inquiry aims to uncover the causes of the fires, which erupted in a seemingly coordinated manner, and to accurately determine responsibility.

In a move to streamline administration and governance, the cabinet approved the elevation of 11 administrative districts from delegated provinces to full-fledged provinces in the High Plateaus and Southern regions. This initiative is designed to enhance local development and facilitate administrative and service delivery to citizens.

On the economic front, the President announced that the exploitation of iron ore at the Gara Djebilet mine is slated to commence in the first quarter of 2026. He emphasized that the strategic objective is to gradually achieve self-sufficiency and reduce reliance on imports of the raw material.

In the realm of strategic transport infrastructure, the cabinet ratified the commissioning of the railway line connecting the provinces of Tindouf and Bechar in January 2026. A national celebratory event is planned to commemorate this major developmental achievement, which will contribute to supporting mining activities in the Gara Djebilet area and stimulating economic activity in the southwest.

This package of measures signals a renewed focus on social welfare and regional development across Algeria.
