Minister Arkab Attends UNIDO Conference in Riyadh

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, is representing Algeria at the 21st General Conference of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). The conference is being held in Riyadh from November 23rd to 27th, 2025.

According to a statement from the ministry, this year’s conference is particularly significant as it transforms into the ‘Global Industry Summit (GIS 2025)’. The event is drawing participation from heads of state and government, ministers, high-level officials, and prominent leaders from international industrial organizations.

Minister Arkab is leading a high-level Algerian delegation comprising representatives from the hydrocarbons, mining, and industry sectors. The delegation includes the Algerian Ambassador to Austria, the Algerian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, the head of the National Agency for Mining Activities, and senior officials from relevant sectors.

On November 24th, Minister Arkab will participate in a session titled ‘Unlocking the Potential of Clean Hydrogen Through Investment and Innovation.’ This session will highlight the increasing role of clean hydrogen in supporting sustainable industrial development, with a focus on innovation, financing mechanisms, and fostering inter-regional cooperation.

The session will also mark the official launch of UNIDO’s Global Clean Hydrogen Programme, supported by the Global Environment Facility (GEF-8). Algeria is among the nine partner countries where the program will be implemented.

This conference serves as a vital global platform for shaping industrial policies. Representatives from 173 member states will convene to discuss the prospects for sustainable industrial development, digital transformation, green industry, the circular economy, and the promotion of fair value chains. Furthermore, discussions will encompass industrial cooperation with developing and middle-income countries.

Participants will also explore new mechanisms for financing industrial projects and programs, as well as developing solutions for technical cooperation and the exchange of expertise in managing large-scale projects.

Algeria’s participation underscores its commitment to strengthening its international presence and solidifying its position as a reliable partner in the fields of industry, energy, and mining.
