Algiers – Algeria’s non-hydrocarbon exports have experienced significant growth during the first six months of 2025, according to the National Office of Statistics. This positive trend indicates a strengthening of the nation’s diversified economic sectors.
The prices of exported goods, excluding oil and gas, increased by 3%, while the volume of these exports grew by approximately 8.6% compared to the same period in 2024. This performance has positively impacted the overall value of non-hydrocarbon exports, with an estimated increase of around 12%. This growth reflects the vitality of Algeria’s productive sectors and their increasing ability to expand into foreign markets.
The National Office of Statistics emphasized that the strong performance of non-hydrocarbon exports has helped mitigate the effects of a decline in the hydrocarbon sector. Prices for exported hydrocarbons decreased by 8.2%, and their volume fell by approximately 2.1% during the same period. Consequently, non-oil exports have become a crucial pillar in supporting the country’s overall trade revenues.
Official data indicates that non-oil exports are playing an increasingly important role in supporting trade balance, particularly in light of imports reaching $29 billion during the first half of 2025. The National Office of Statistics suggests that this expansion in diversified exports is contributing to narrowing the trade deficit and enhancing the national economy’s ability to withstand fluctuations in global hydrocarbon prices.
These official figures confirm that continued growth in non-hydrocarbon exports presents an opportunity to broaden the national income base and strengthen the presence of Algerian products in international markets. This growth underscores the importance of developing non-oil productive sectors to ensure resource sustainability and reduce reliance on hydrocarbons.
