Algiers – Louisa Hanoune, Secretary-General of the Workers’ Party, has revealed details of the discussions held during her meeting with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Tuesday.

Following the meeting at the Presidential Palace, Hanoune stated that she addressed a range of national issues – economic, social, and political – with the President. She described the meeting with President Tebboune as characteristically frank and open, allowing her to convey concerns relating to public life.

Hanoune announced that the discussions included the law on political parties, confirming that the Workers’ Party had presented practical proposals related to the legislation. “We discussed the draft law on parties in preparation for the upcoming elections, especially as they come in a different context than previous ones because the international and regional situation is different,” she said, describing the electoral appointment as a pivotal stage.

Furthermore, Louisa Hanoune indicated that she raised concerns with the President regarding civil status and electoral lists for residents of the new provinces. She stressed the importance of addressing these issues to ensure fair and accurate representation.

The Secretary-General of the Workers’ Party affirmed that her political formation is working to provide national solutions to all internal affairs, while rejecting any external interference. She emphasized the party’s commitment to safeguarding Algeria’s sovereignty and independence.

The meeting also addressed the Palestinian issue and the role Algeria has played and continues to play in this regard. Hanoune reiterated Algeria’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and its commitment to seeking a just and lasting resolution to the conflict.
