Algeria Seeks Broader Partnerships to Fuel Economic Growth

Cairo – Algeria is actively pursuing the expansion of its partnerships across a wider range of sectors, aligning with its comprehensive economic revitalization efforts. This commitment was emphasized by Mohamed Tahar Bilal, head of the Algerian parliamentary delegation, during the Summit of Heads and Parliamentary Forum of the Mediterranean held here Saturday.

In his address, Bilal highlighted Algeria’s focus on forging partnerships that complement its ongoing economic development. He referenced the country’s economic openness, spearheaded by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and supported by the Parliament’s ratification of the new investment law.

Bilal stressed that successful economic cooperation is “based on fairness in the exchange of benefits, mutual respect, and equality.” He connected Algeria’s understanding of the profound concept of “integration and mutually beneficial partnership” to its hosting of the fourth Intra-African Trade Fair last September.

“The slogan of integration has transformed into tangible initiatives reflecting the principle of economic justice and equity in development,” Bilal stated.

Mohamed Tahar Bilal underscored Algeria’s dedication to this principle by consistently advocating for reform and the establishment of a new international order. He noted the Algerian Parliament’s welcoming stance towards all initiatives that safeguard the rights of peoples and respect the rights of nations to full sovereignty over their decisions.

He further asserted that all regional cooperation mechanisms “will remain limited in effectiveness if they do not prioritize combating colonialism.” Bilal emphasized that this colonialism continues to distort the Eastern Mediterranean and North Africa regions.

He concluded by calling for a move away from perpetuating injustice and tyranny through the exploitation of the resources of peoples under occupation in illegitimate commercial deals. Algeria remains committed to fostering equitable and mutually beneficial partnerships that contribute to sustainable development and regional stability.
