Bechar, Algeria – Authorities in the Wilaya of Bechar have announced a special lottery for the Hajj pilgrimage in 2026 (1447 Hijri) specifically for citizens aged 70 and above who have registered for the Hajj ten or more times. This exceptional measure aims to prioritize senior citizens who have been waiting patiently for the opportunity to fulfill this important religious duty.

The announcement, made by the Wilaya’s office, stated that the lottery will take place on Saturday, December 6th, 2025, at 9:00 AM at the Wilaya headquarters. Registered individuals meeting the age and registration criteria are invited to attend in person. If unable to attend, they may designate a representative to attend on their behalf. This representative must have the proper authorization documents.

The Hajj is an annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, the holiest city for Muslims. It is one of the five pillars of Islam and a mandatory religious duty for Muslims who are able to afford the trip and are physically capable of undertaking it.

This special lottery initiative reflects a commitment to ensuring that elderly citizens have a fair chance to participate in the Hajj. Details regarding the registration process for the designated representatives will be released in the coming weeks. Citizens are encouraged to monitor official announcements from the Wilaya of Bechar for further information. DZWatch will continue to provide updates as they become available.
