Attaf Meets Rwandan Foreign Minister in Algiers

Algiers, November 30, 2025 – Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, received Olivier Jean Patrick, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda, this evening. The meeting took place in Algiers on the sidelines of the international conference organized by Algeria on the “Criminalization of Colonialism in Africa.”

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both ministers expressed their satisfaction with the dynamic momentum in bilateral relations. This positive development is a direct result of the implementation of outcomes from Rwandan President Paul Kagame’s visit to Algeria in June, at the invitation of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

During their discussions, Minister Attaf and Minister Patrick addressed key issues on the agenda of the International Conference on the Criminalization of Colonialism. They also coordinated on topics to be discussed at the second session of the Oran Process on Peace and Security in Africa, which is set to begin tomorrow.

The Oran Process is an Algerian initiative aimed at fostering peace and security cooperation across the African continent. This second session is expected to build upon the progress made in the initial meeting and further solidify collaborative efforts to address regional challenges.

The meeting underscores Algeria’s commitment to strengthening ties with Rwanda and its active role in promoting Pan-African cooperation on critical issues such as decolonization and continental security.
