OPEC+ Members, Including Algeria, Affirm December Production Increase

Algiers – Algeria, along with seven other nations within the OPEC+ alliance, has reaffirmed its commitment to a collective production increase of 137,000 barrels per day (bpd) for the month of December. This decision, initially agreed upon in early November, was reiterated on Sunday, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Energy and Mines.

The planned increase includes Algeria’s allocation of 4,000 bpd. The agreement also stipulates a pause in further production increases between January 1st and March 30th, 2026. This strategic move aims to carefully manage global oil supply and maintain market stability during the specified period.

DZWatch understands that the decision reflects a broader strategy within OPEC+ to gradually adjust production levels in response to evolving global economic conditions and energy demand. The consortium continues to monitor market trends closely, taking into account factors such as geopolitical developments and the overall health of the global economy.

The temporary freeze on production increases in the new year is intended to allow the market to absorb the December output boost and to avoid potential oversupply scenarios. This proactive approach underscores OPEC+’s commitment to ensuring a balanced and predictable oil market for both producers and consumers.

The Algerian Ministry of Energy and Mines has emphasized that Algeria remains a reliable and responsible partner within OPEC+, dedicated to upholding the organization’s objectives and contributing to the long-term stability of the international energy market. The country’s adherence to the agreed-upon production quotas and its active participation in OPEC+ discussions demonstrate its commitment to collective decision-making and a collaborative approach to oil market management.
