Algiers, Algeria – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has authorized an additional quota of 2,000 Hajj permits for Algerian citizens who have repeatedly registered for the pilgrimage without success. The announcement was made today by the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities, and National Planning.
The special allocation is specifically targeted towards citizens aged 70 and above who have registered for the Hajj lottery ten or more times for the 1447 AH/2026 season, but were not selected in the regular lottery held on Saturday, November 22, 2025. This initiative underscores President Tebboune’s commitment to providing older citizens with a greater opportunity to fulfill their religious obligations.
According to the Ministry, a dedicated lottery for eligible individuals will be conducted on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the Wilaya (province) headquarters or another suitable location designated by local authorities. Applicants or their representatives are invited to attend the draw.
The Ministry clarified that this special lottery is exclusively for citizens meeting the specified age and registration criteria. Individuals not fulfilling both conditions will not be considered. This measure aims to prioritize those who have consistently sought the opportunity to perform Hajj over an extended period.
