Blida: Man Arrested for Fiat Car Speculation

Blida, Algeria – Authorities in Blida have arrested a 34-year-old man on charges of speculation related to the resale of Fiat vehicles.

According to a statement released by the Blida Police Department, the suspect, a resident of Blida, allegedly acquired a significant number of Fiat commercial vehicles – approximately 100 – under the pretense of using them for his declared commercial activities. The vehicles were obtained through an order placed with an authorized car dealership.

However, police allege that immediately after receiving the vehicles, the individual proceeded to illegally resell the majority of them, exploiting the scarcity of cars in the market and inflating prices to an excessive degree. This action constitutes a clear violation of the law aimed at combating illicit speculation.

Investigations conducted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Unit of the Blida Judicial Police revealed that the suspect received the vehicles under the guise of professional use. He then allegedly offered them for resale at inflated prices, with the intention of generating unjustified profits. This is considered a form of speculation and hoarding, designed to manipulate the market and disrupt fair competition.

The suspect has been presented before the Public Prosecutor at the Boufarik Court, according to the same source.
