Ouargla, Algeria – The wilaya of Ouargla is set to host the second edition of the International Desert Agriculture Investment Fair from January 5th to 8th, 2026. Organizers announced the event, which aims to boost investment in the vital sector of desert agriculture.
The fair, themed “Strategic Crops: Guaranteeing Food Security,” will bring together key players in the agricultural industry. This includes investors, financiers, equipment manufacturers, and suppliers of essential agricultural inputs.
Organizers anticipate significant participation from economic operators, including representatives from both public and private Algerian companies. Furthermore, representatives from international firms specializing in seeds and agricultural pharmaceuticals are expected to attend.
A scientific conference will be held alongside the fair, featuring presentations from university professors, agricultural researchers, and representatives from national agricultural institutes. The conference will address critical topics such as the challenges facing desert agriculture and prospects for its development.
Discussions will also focus on the date palm wealth of desert regions and strategies for its valorization. The intersection of agricultural investment and renewable energy will also be a key area of focus. These discussions aim to identify optimal approaches for advancing desert agriculture, achieving food security, and bolstering the national economy.
The event is organized under the supervision of the “Souf Foire” for salons and exhibitions, in coordination with the Directorate of Agricultural Services, the Agricultural Chamber of Ouargla, and the National Institute for Agricultural Extension.
