Algeria: Road Accidents Claim 7 Lives in 24 Hours

Tragic road accidents across Algeria have resulted in the deaths of seven people in the last 24 hours. According to a statement released by the General Directorate of Civil Protection, emergency services responded to a total of 3015 incidents nationwide.

The Civil Protection services reported 135 road accidents during this period, leaving 182 individuals injured in addition to the fatalities. This translates to an intervention by emergency services approximately every 28 seconds, highlighting the constant demand on their resources.

DZWatch has learned that the accidents occurred in various regions of the country, underscoring the need for heightened road safety awareness and preventative measures. Authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution, particularly during peak travel times, and to adhere to traffic regulations.

In a separate incident, the Civil Protection services also attended to four cases of carbon monoxide poisoning. These incidents resulted in the poisoning of nine people. Fortunately, no fatalities were recorded in these cases. The authorities are reminding citizens to ensure proper ventilation and regular maintenance of heating systems to prevent carbon monoxide buildup, especially during the colder months.

The high number of road accidents and carbon monoxide poisoning cases underscores the importance of public safety campaigns and proactive measures to mitigate these risks. DZWatch will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
