Algeria and Slovakia Sign Declaration to Boost Bilateral Cooperation

Algeria and Slovakia have signed a joint declaration aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation and charting a roadmap for its future enhancement. The agreement focuses on solidifying the legal framework and completing the institutional structure underpinning their relationship.

The declaration was signed during bilateral discussions between Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, and Slovakian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Juraj Blanár, in Bratislava. Minister Attaf’s visit to Slovakia was undertaken on behalf of the President of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

According to a statement from the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussions provided an opportunity to review the current state of bilateral relations and explore future prospects in various priority sectors. These include energy, renewable energy, the pharmaceutical industry, and water resources, as well as broader cooperation in industry and agriculture.

The two sides also addressed several regional and international issues of mutual interest, particularly those related to developments in their respective regions.

The joint declaration emphasizes the support of both Algeria and Slovakia for international efforts aimed at consolidating the ceasefire in Gaza and establishing a Palestinian state within the framework of a two-state solution. It also reaffirms both countries’ support for the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions.
