Algiers – The Ministry of Health announced today that over 3.8 million children have been vaccinated against polio during the first phase of the national vaccination campaign. The campaign, which spanned across all provinces of the nation, achieved a vaccination rate of 95 percent.
According to a statement released by the Ministry, “During the first phase of the national polio vaccination campaign, which took place from November 30th to December 6th, 2025, a total of 3,823,066 children aged between two months and five years were vaccinated across all provinces. This represents a 95 percent coverage rate, meeting the standards set by the World Health Organization.”
The Ministry of Health expressed its gratitude to the various ministerial departments, international partners, healthcare professionals, and civil society organizations for their support and contribution to the success of this strategically important initiative. The collaborative effort ensured the widespread reach and effectiveness of the campaign.
Parents are reminded of the importance of vaccinating their children within the targeted age group during the second phase of the campaign, scheduled from December 21st to 27th, 2025, and the third phase, from January 25th to 31st, 2026.
The Ministry further assured that all local health facilities equipped for vaccination are fully prepared to provide optimal reception and vaccination services for children. The health sector remains committed to ensuring the complete eradication of polio in Algeria.
The Ministry of Health urges all eligible families to participate in the upcoming phases of the national vaccination campaign to protect their children and contribute to the overall public health of the nation.
