Algeria Affirms Drive for Strategic Integration with Tunisia

Tunis, December 11, 2025 – Algeria has reaffirmed its commitment to bolstering relations with Tunisia, aiming for deeper strategic integration between the two nations. Prime Minister Sifi Ghrib, speaking in Tunis on Thursday, conveyed President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s strong desire to enhance bilateral ties and collaborate with his Tunisian counterpart, President Kais Saied, to achieve this goal.

Following a meeting with President Saied during his official visit for the 23rd session of the Algerian-Tunisian High Joint Commission for Cooperation, Prime Minister Ghrib stated, “I was honored to meet with President Kais Saied at the beginning of my visit to sisterly Tunisia. I conveyed the greetings of his brother, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and emphasized the President’s keen interest in developing bilateral relations.”

He further highlighted President Tebboune’s “strong will” to “continue working with his Tunisian counterpart to advance the partnership between the two countries towards greater strategic integration and integrated, solidarity-based development, in line with the approach adopted during President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s state visit to Tunisia in December 2021.”

The Prime Minister noted that President Saied expressed his “special appreciation for his brother, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and his determination to continue working with him to elevate the partnership between the two countries.”

Sifi Ghrib explained that he listened “with great interest to President Kais Saied’s valuable analyses on ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries and mobilize all available capabilities to push the partnership forward.”

The meeting also reviewed the progress of preparations for the Algerian-Tunisian High Joint Commission meeting scheduled for tomorrow. It emphasized the need to seize this opportunity to “strengthen the legal and institutional frameworks for cooperation between the two countries and create the appropriate conditions for developing their partnership, serving the common interests of both nations and fulfilling the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.” The discussions specifically addressed “the promising prospects and opportunities for enhancing trade and investment,” which will be a central focus of the commission.
