The Algerian Prime Minister, Sifi Grib, held talks with Tunisian Prime Minister, Sarah Zaafarani Zenzeri, in Tunis on Friday. The meeting took place at the Government Palace in Kasbah, on the sidelines of the 23rd session of the Joint Algerian-Tunisian Grand Joint Commission for Cooperation. Discussions centered on the current state and future prospects of bilateral relations, and ways to strengthen the partnership between the two nations.
The meeting involved delegations from both countries. A report was presented by the follow-up committee, which was jointly chaired by the Algerian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, and his Tunisian counterpart, Mohamed Ali Nafti. The report detailed preparations for the commission’s meetings at the expert and ministerial levels, as well as agreements and proposals related to promoting fraternal ties and cooperation across various sectors.
During his address, the Algerian Prime Minister emphasized that the session was being held in line with the directives of Presidents Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Kais Saied. He stated that the goal is to elevate relations between Algeria and Tunisia to the level of a strategic, integrated partnership built on solidarity. He also lauded the ongoing security coordination between the two countries in addressing shared threats, particularly in securing borders and combating terrorism, organized crime, illegal immigration, smuggling, and drug trafficking.
On the economic front, the Prime Minister highlighted the significant human and material potential available to both countries. He noted that this potential allows for the construction of productive and mutually beneficial bilateral partnerships across various fields, provided that a clear roadmap and practical implementation mechanisms are established with specific timelines for activating cooperation projects in vital and priority sectors.
The Tunisian Prime Minister welcomed the session, praising the distinguished relations between the two countries and their people. She affirmed the commitment of both leaders to developing cooperation in all areas, particularly in the energy sector. She acknowledged Algeria’s contribution to supplying Tunisia with energy resources and noted the dynamism in bilateral economic exchanges in trade and investment, calling for their enhancement and increased volume.
The Algerian Prime Minister was accompanied by several ministers during the session, including the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and African Affairs, the Minister of Energy and Mines, the Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Industry, the Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry, and the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Fisheries.
