The Algerian People’s National Army (ANP) has reported a series of significant operational successes between December 10th and 16th, 2025, demonstrating its continued commitment to combating terrorism and organized crime across the nation. These operations, conducted across various military districts, underscore the ANP’s dedication to safeguarding national security and citizen well-being.
Counter-Terrorism Efforts Intensified
As part of its ongoing counter-terrorism strategy, ANP detachments successfully apprehended ten individuals providing support to terrorist groups. These arrests, carried out in diverse regions of Algeria, highlight the army’s effectiveness in dismantling support networks vital to terrorist organizations.
Major Blow to Drug Traffickers
In a coordinated effort against organized crime, joint ANP units, working in conjunction with various security services, arrested thirty-eight (38) drug traffickers. Authorities thwarted attempts to smuggle four (4) quintals and ninety-two (92) kilograms of treated cannabis across the border with Morocco. Furthermore, operations led to the seizure of over 1,016,772 psychotropic tablets, marking one of the largest drug busts in recent times.
Crackdown on Illegal Gold Mining
ANP units detained 306 individuals involved in illegal gold mining activities. They also confiscated 53 vehicles, 336 generators, 173 jackhammers, and 3 metal detectors, in addition to substantial quantities of raw gold ore and equipment used in illicit gold extraction.
Smuggling Networks Disrupted, Weapons Seized
In separate operations, thirteen (13) individuals were apprehended, and a cache of weapons was seized, including two pistols, two Kalashnikov assault rifles, one submachine gun, and nine hunting rifles. Additionally, 62,245 liters of fuel, 48 quintals of tobacco, and 19 tons of food intended for smuggling and illicit speculation were confiscated.
Illegal Immigration Attempts Foiled
Along the Algerian coastline, the Coast Guard successfully intercepted several attempts at illegal immigration, rescuing 246 individuals aboard makeshift vessels. These operations demonstrate the ANP’s unwavering commitment to protecting Algeria’s borders and combating all forms of transnational crime.
