Cairo – Ahmed Attaf, the Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad and African Affairs, held bilateral talks this evening with Amon Murwira, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Zimbabwe. The meeting took place on the sidelines of Attaf’s official visit to Cairo for the second session of the African-Russian Partnership Forum at the ministerial level.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on the implementation of the outcomes of the state visit to Algeria by Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa in July. Discussions focused on the agreements reached during President Mnangagwa’s talks with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
The ministers also explored avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation across various fields of mutual interest. Key areas for potential collaboration were identified, with a focus on economic partnerships and strategic alliances.
The source added that both sides affirmed the alignment of their positions on a number of regional and international issues, particularly concerning just causes. The Palestinian issue and the Western Sahara issue were highlighted, with emphasis placed on continued coordination and consultation within regional and international forums. The discussions underscored a shared commitment to multilateralism and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.
This meeting reinforces the strong diplomatic ties between Algeria and Zimbabwe, highlighting their dedication to fostering closer collaboration on the African continent and beyond.
