FLN Chief Outlines Priorities for Elected Officials

Algiers – The Secretary-General of the National Liberation Front (FLN), Abdelkrim Benmbarek, has reaffirmed the party’s central role in Algerian politics, emphasizing the significant responsibilities held by its elected representatives at municipal, regional, and parliamentary levels.

During a closed-door meeting held today at the party’s headquarters in Hydra, Benmbarek addressed local and national officials, focusing on strengthening national commitment and grassroots engagement. He stressed that elected officials are not merely electoral representatives but a vital link between citizens and the state.

Benmbarek explained that the performance of local representatives directly reflects the state’s strength and its ability to translate public policies into tangible improvements in people’s lives. He stated that municipalities are not just administrative units close to citizens, but spaces where the presence or absence of the state is felt daily.

The Secretary-General outlined multi-level responsibilities for elected officials based on their positions in local and national elected assemblies. He reiterated that the FLN does not separate politics from ethics and that its support for President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s program must be translated into action through fieldwork, effective communication with citizens, and the efficient implementation of policies.

Benmbarek emphasized that true political work is serving the citizen above all else and transforming elected assemblies into functional workspaces, free from conflicts or obstruction. He also underscored that protecting national unity is a fundamental principle and core belief of the FLN.

The unity of Algeria was a central theme in the Secretary-General’s address. He stressed that protecting national consciousness and defending the country’s unity is a primary responsibility for elected officials in their daily attitudes and behavior. Strong municipalities, regions, and institutions are essential building blocks of national sovereignty, and any shortcomings or hesitation could create vulnerabilities to internal and external challenges.

Benmbarek highlighted that Algeria, with its rich history and long struggle, faces numerous challenges that require unity. He urged all elected officials to prioritize the nation’s interests and work diligently to address the needs of the Algerian people.
