El Bayadh – The Secretary-General of the General Union of Algerian Workers (UGTA), Amar Takdjout, has called for the continued strengthening and preservation of the gains achieved for the benefit of the working class. The appeal was made on Wednesday in El Bayadh, where Takdjout emphasized the importance of building upon existing achievements.
Speaking to local union representatives, Takdjout highlighted the progress made in recent years regarding workers’ rights, wages, and working conditions. He stressed that while significant strides have been taken, ongoing vigilance and proactive measures are crucial to safeguard these advancements against potential challenges.
“We must remain united and dedicated to protecting the interests of Algerian workers,” Takdjout stated. “The gains we have secured are not guaranteed; they require constant effort and a commitment to social dialogue to ensure their sustainability.”
The Secretary-General further emphasized the role of the UGTA in advocating for policies that promote fair labor practices, job creation, and improved living standards for all Algerian workers. He urged union members to actively participate in shaping the future of the labor market and to contribute to the overall economic development of the country.
Takdjout’s remarks come at a time when Algeria is focused on diversifying its economy and creating new opportunities for its citizens. The UGTA has pledged to work closely with the government and other stakeholders to ensure that these efforts benefit the working class and contribute to a more equitable and prosperous society. The union plans to launch a series of initiatives aimed at promoting skills development and empowering workers to adapt to the changing demands of the modern economy.
