Germany Declines Analysis of Libyan Plane’s Black Box: Why?

Tripoli, Libya – Germany has declined to analyze the black box of the Falcon 50 aircraft that crashed near Ankara, Turkey, carrying Libyan Chief of Staff, General Mohammad Ali Al-Haddad, and several of his aides. The reason for Germany’s refusal has sparked questions regarding the ongoing investigation into the tragic incident.

According to the Ministry of Interior of the Government of National Unity in Tripoli, Turkish investigative authorities were informed that Germany cited a lack of technical capabilities to handle this specific type of aircraft. This explanation has raised eyebrows, prompting speculation about the true reasons behind the decision.

Last Wednesday, Turkey announced that the black box of the Libyan plane, which crashed on Tuesday evening near Ankara, resulting in the death of all passengers, would be analyzed in a neutral country. Turkish authorities have intensified their investigations into the incident, and the initial examination of the recovered black boxes has commenced.

The Libyan ministry indicated in a press statement on Friday evening that four other countries capable of conducting the analysis had been considered. An agreement was unanimously reached between the Libyan committee, the aviation authority, the Turkish public prosecutor, and the Libyan attorney general to select the United Kingdom as a neutral party to complete the necessary technical procedures.

The Libyan investigative committee, present in Turkey for the past two days, visited the central operations room of the Gendarmerie forces to review the procedures taken since the accident was reported. They also visited the forensic medicine unit, which confirmed the completion of DNA analysis and the accurate identification of the victims’ remains after matching samples with their relatives. Following these procedures, it was decided that the bodies of Al-Haddad and his companions would be transported to Tripoli on Saturday.

General Al-Haddad and his entourage perished on Tuesday evening near the Turkish capital when their plane crashed for reasons that remain unknown. The incident has prompted widespread grief and calls for a thorough and transparent investigation.

Separately, a French diplomatic source revealed on Friday that two French nationals were among the crew members of the Libyan Chief of Staff’s plane that crashed near Ankara.
