Minister Receives Diaspora Students on Remembrance Trip

Algiers – The Minister of Mujahideen and Veterans Affairs, Abdelmalek Tacherift, welcomed a group of university students from the Algerian diaspora this evening in Algiers. The students are participating in the inaugural winter university program, a ‘Journey of Remembrance’ initiative.

The program, organized by the Ministry of Mujahideen and Veterans Affairs, aims to connect young Algerians living abroad with their heritage and the sacrifices made during the country’s struggle for independence. The students will embark on a series of visits to historical sites and engage in discussions with veterans and historians, deepening their understanding of Algeria’s rich and often challenging past.

During the reception, Minister Tacherift emphasized the importance of preserving the collective memory of the nation and transmitting it to future generations, both within Algeria and among the diaspora. He highlighted the role of young people in safeguarding this legacy and promoting a sense of national identity.

“This initiative is crucial for strengthening the bonds between Algeria and its citizens abroad,” stated the Minister. “By experiencing firsthand the history and culture of their homeland, these students will become ambassadors for Algeria and its values.”

The ‘Journey of Remembrance’ program is expected to become an annual event, providing opportunities for more young Algerians from around the world to reconnect with their roots and contribute to the ongoing narrative of Algerian history. DZWatch will continue to follow this story as it develops.
