Algiers – The Minister of National Education, Mohamed Sghir Saadaoui, received the President of the Algerian Children’s Parliament, student Amina Lagrine, along with her deputies, at the ministry headquarters in El Mouradia on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. The meeting marked the inauguration of the new body of the Children’s Parliament for the 2025-2027 term.
During the reception, the Minister expressed his welcome to the young parliamentarians, emphasizing the significant importance of involving children in institutional life. He affirmed this as a fundamental step in establishing the values of citizenship and developing civic awareness among the rising generations.
The Minister clarified that this national initiative falls within a comprehensive educational vision aimed at preparing young people on the foundations of responsible expression, positive participation, and the formulation of ideas related to the future of the educational system. He stated that the Algerian Children’s Parliament is an educational and formative space that simulates state institutions, providing children with the opportunity to understand the principles of democratic work, dialogue mechanisms, and decision-making. This, in turn, enhances their sense of responsibility and national belonging.
Furthermore, he highlighted that this experience contributes to consolidating constitutional culture among children and expanding their understanding of the roles of authorities in the state, particularly the legislative authority and its role in oversight and achieving institutional balance, all in service of the public good.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Minister of National Education honored the President of the Algerian Children’s Parliament and her deputies by presenting symbolic gifts, expressing his appreciation for their election by their peers and encouraging them to continue performing their educational and civic roles.
