Algiers Police Dismantle Drug Trafficking Ring, Seize Cocaine

Algiers law enforcement has successfully dismantled a criminal network specializing in the distribution of narcotics, seizing a substantial quantity of cocaine. The operation was conducted by the Mobile Brigade of the Judicial Police in Astaouali, under the jurisdiction of the Zeralda administrative district security services, as part of ongoing efforts to combat organized crime.

The operation followed intensive field investigations initiated after receiving intelligence regarding the suspicious activities of a network involved in the illegal trafficking of narcotics. These investigations led to the identification of the network members, resulting in the arrest of four individuals, including one woman, after a carefully executed plan.

During the operation, conducted under the supervision of the competent regional prosecutor’s office, authorities seized 880 grams of cocaine. In addition, a marine signal device, allegedly used to facilitate their criminal activities, was also confiscated.

Following the completion of legal procedures, the suspects were presented before the Public Prosecutor at the Kolicéa Court to face prosecution in accordance with the laws pertaining to the illegal trafficking of narcotics.

This operation underscores the National Security Services’ continuous commitment to combating drug trafficking networks and protecting the community from the dangers associated with them, particularly hard drugs, which pose a direct threat to public health and safety. Authorities reaffirm their dedication to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all citizens. Further investigations are underway to identify any potential accomplices and dismantle any remaining elements of the network.
