China Urges US to Immediately Release Venezuela’s Maduro

Beijing, DZWatch – China has called on the United States to immediately release Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, advocating for a resolution to the crisis in Venezuela through dialogue and negotiation. The Chinese Foreign Ministry issued a statement emphasizing the need to respect the sovereignty of Venezuela and uphold international law.

The statement urged Washington to ensure the personal safety of President Maduro and his wife, demanding their unconditional release and the cessation of actions aimed at undermining the state authority in Venezuela. China reiterated the importance of resolving existing disputes and issues through peaceful dialogue and negotiations, warning that external interventions would only complicate the situation and destabilize the region.

“Interference from outside will not contribute to resolving the crisis,” the statement read, “but will only complicate the situation and destabilize the region.” China emphasized adherence to the principles of the United Nations Charter and respect for the will of the Venezuelan people.

Furthermore, Chinese state media criticized alleged U.S. military actions in Venezuela and the detention of its president, arguing that it undermines the U.S.’s rhetoric regarding the defense of international norms. Xinhua, the official Chinese news agency, stated that these actions reveal a clear disregard for the global order and international law.

These developments, according to Xinhua, raise serious questions about the credibility of the United States in respecting the principles of sovereignty and non-interference in the internal affairs of other nations. The call from China adds to the growing international pressure surrounding the situation in Venezuela and the role of external actors.
