Judiciary Law Under Review by Algerian Senate Committee

Algiers, Algeria – The Algerian Senate’s Committee on Legal and Administrative Affairs, Human Rights, Local Organization, Regional Planning, and Territorial Division is scheduled to convene tomorrow, Monday, for a hearing with the Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals, Lotfi Boujemaa. The session, presided over by Mr. Mohmah Rabah, will commence at 9:30 AM.

According to a statement released by the Senate, the primary focus of the hearing will be the examination of an organic law concerning the fundamental statute of the judiciary. This legislation is considered crucial for the organization and function of the judicial system in Algeria.

Furthermore, the committee will also deliberate on a proposed amendment to Order No. 70-86, dated 17 Shawwal 1390, corresponding to December 15, 1970, which pertains to the Algerian Nationality Law. This amendment aims to refine and update existing provisions related to citizenship.

The review of these two significant pieces of legislation underscores the ongoing efforts to modernize and strengthen the legal framework in Algeria. The committee’s deliberations will play a vital role in shaping the final form of these laws before they are presented to the full Senate for consideration.
