DZWatch Exclusive: The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is set to begin the evaluation of applications for university faculty promotions and habilitation starting January 11th. This marks a significant step in the Ministry’s commitment to advancing the academic careers of research professors.
These promotion cycles represent crucial milestones for faculty, offering opportunities to ascend to higher ranks and acknowledging their academic contributions. The Ministry’s focus on recognizing and rewarding academic excellence is clearly demonstrated by this initiative.
According to the National Union of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the 53rd cycle for promotion to the rank of Professor will commence on January 11th, concluding on January 29th. The 8th habilitation cycle will begin evaluations on January 17th, with results expected to be announced on February 10th. The final evaluation for promotion to Research Professor ‘A’ is scheduled from February 26th to March 14th, with results to be released on March 16th.
These timelines underscore the Ministry’s dedication to transparency and the adoption of digital technologies in the management of academic files. The implementation of modern mechanisms, facilitated by Decision No. 1300 dated October 5th, 2025, aims to improve administrative and scientific management, streamlining evaluation and promotion processes while enhancing their overall quality.
The National Union also emphasized its support for transparency and integrity through the renewal of the national evaluation committees, ensuring a fair and unbiased assessment process. This commitment aims to maintain the highest standards of academic evaluation within the Algerian higher education system.
