Venezuela Calls for Cooperation After Maduro’s Arrest

CARACAS – Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez has called on the United States government to engage in cooperation following her appointment as interim president. This development comes after the arrest of President Nicolas Maduro by U.S. forces.

Rodriguez released a statement Monday, emphasizing Venezuela’s desire for a “threat-free environment based on mutual respect and international collaboration.” She reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to peaceful coexistence and dialogue.

“Establishing balanced and respectful relations between Venezuela and its neighboring countries is a top priority,” Rodriguez stated. She urged the U.S. government to adopt an approach centered on shared development and the promotion of coexistence within the framework of international law.

Addressing U.S. President Donald Trump directly, Rodriguez asserted, “Our people and our region deserve peace and dialogue, not war.” She emphasized that Maduro has consistently conveyed this message, which she now considers a shared sentiment among all Venezuelans.

The Venezuelan Supreme Court mandated Rodriguez’s assumption of the interim presidency following Maduro’s apprehension. The arrest occurred during a military operation announced by the United States last Saturday, resulting in the detention of Maduro and his wife. They were subsequently transported to the United States.

The U.S. Department of Justice has released a document outlining charges against Maduro, accusing him of leading a corrupt government and associating with drug traffickers and terrorists worldwide. The situation remains fluid, and DZWatch will continue to provide updates as they become available.
