White House: Greenland Acquisition Discussed, Military Option on Table

The White House confirmed on Tuesday that President Trump and his advisors are exploring various options for acquiring Greenland, stating that the use of the military to achieve this objective remains a possibility.

In a statement responding to inquiries, the White House emphasized that “President Trump has made it clear that the acquisition of Greenland is a national security priority for the United States, vital for deterring our adversaries in the Arctic region.”

The statement continued, “The President and his team are discussing a range of options to achieve this important foreign policy goal, and of course, the use of the American military is always an option available to the Commander-in-Chief.”

An administration official had previously asserted the United States’ claim to Greenland, dismissing the possibility of armed conflict over the island. Simultaneously, Greenland has affirmed its commitment to maintaining dialogue with Washington through proper channels.

Stephen Miller, Deputy Assistant to the President for Policy and Homeland Security, stated that Greenland should be part of the United States to safeguard NATO interests and ensure security in the Arctic region. He questioned the legitimacy of Denmark’s control over Greenland.

When asked about the potential for a military operation against Greenland, Miller stated that such an action was unnecessary and unlikely, asserting that no one would wage war against the United States for Greenland.

President Trump recently stated that the United States needs Greenland, citing increasing Russian and Chinese influence in the region. He noted Greenland’s strategic location and the presence of Russian and Chinese ships in its vicinity.
