Algiers – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has issued a strong appeal to young Algerians currently residing abroad in precarious and irregular situations, urging them to take steps to regularize their residency status. The call came during a Council of Ministers meeting held on Sunday, according to an official statement.
The President, also serving as the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defence, addressed the circumstances of Algerian youth who have found themselves in vulnerable positions overseas. The statement emphasized that some of these individuals were misled and potentially exploited with the intent of using them against their own country.
The Council of Ministers, under President Tebboune’s leadership, has thus made a decision to facilitate the regularization process for these young Algerians. Details regarding the specific measures and procedures for regularization are expected to be announced in the coming days. The move signals a commitment from the Algerian government to support its citizens abroad who may be facing difficulties.
DZWatch understands that the government is preparing a comprehensive plan to assist these individuals in navigating the legal and administrative requirements necessary to achieve legal residency in their host countries or to facilitate their safe return to Algeria, should they choose to do so. This initiative reflects a desire to protect Algerian youth from exploitation and ensure their well-being, regardless of their current circumstances.
The President’s appeal underscores the importance of national unity and the protection of Algerian citizens, particularly those who may be vulnerable to external influences. The government’s actions are aimed at providing a pathway to stability and security for these young Algerians, allowing them to contribute positively to society, whether abroad or at home.
