Algeria Attends SIMICA Chad 2026 as Guest of Honor

Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, representing President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, is participating in the opening of the International Exhibition of Mines, Quarries and Hydrocarbons, SIMICA Chad 2026. The event is taking place in N’Djamena, Chad, from January 21st to 23rd, 2026, under the patronage of the President of Chad, Marshal Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno.

Minister Arkab is accompanied by a high-level delegation including the Minister of Industry, Yahia Bachir, the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mourad Adjjal, the CEO of Sonatrach, Noureddine Daoudi, the CEO of Naftal, Djamal Cherdoud, and the CEO of the Algerian Cement Industries Group (GICA), Rabah Guessoum, in addition to senior officials from the hydrocarbons, mining, energy, and industry sectors.

Algeria’s participation in SIMICA Chad 2026 is particularly significant as the nation is the guest of honor. This provides a platform to share Algeria’s expertise, experience, and vision in developing extractive industries, strengthening African cooperation, and supporting efforts to make the mining sector a strategic pillar for sustainable economic and social development across the African continent.

During the event, Minister Arkab will participate in a high-level conference entitled “Extractive Industries for Sustainable Economic and Social Development: What Strategy for African Countries?” He and his delegation will also hold bilateral meetings with ministers and heads of Chadian and international companies operating in the energy, mining, and industrial sectors, exploring avenues for cooperation, investment opportunities, and knowledge exchange.

Algeria will also have a dedicated pavilion at SIMICA Chad 2026 to showcase the activities of Sonatrach, Sonarem, and Naftal, highlighting their expertise in the hydrocarbons and mining fields. SIMICA Chad 2026 is considered one of the most important African platforms for the mining, quarrying, and hydrocarbon sectors, bringing together decision-makers, investors, and experts from various countries.
