Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, is representing President Abdelmadjid Tebboune at the opening of the International Exhibition of Mines, Quarries and Hydrocarbons, SIMICA Chad 2026, in N’Djamena, Chad. The event, held under the patronage of the President of Chad, Marshal Mohamed Idriss Déby Itno, takes place from January 21st to 23rd, 2026.
Minister Arkab is accompanied by a high-level delegation including the Minister of Industry, Yahia Bechire, and the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mourad Adjal. Also present are the CEOs of Sonatrach, Naftal, and the Algerian Cement Industries Group (GICA), alongside executives from the hydrocarbons, mining, energy, and industry sectors.
Algeria’s participation in this event is significant as the guest of honor. The nation will showcase its expertise, experience, and vision in developing extractive industries. This aims to strengthen South-South cooperation and establish the mining sector as a strategic pillar for sustainable economic and social development in Africa.
Minister Arkab will also participate in a high-level panel discussion entitled: “Extractive Industries for Sustainable Economic and Social Development: What Strategy for African Countries?” He is also scheduled to hold a series of bilateral meetings with ministers and heads of Chadian and international companies to explore cooperation opportunities, promote investment, and exchange expertise.
Algeria’s presence at the exhibition includes a dedicated pavilion to promote the activities of Sonatrach, Sonarem, and Naftal. This platform will highlight their experience and expertise in the fields of hydrocarbons and mining, within what is considered one of Africa’s leading specialized spaces in these sectors. The Algerian delegation aims to foster strong partnerships and sustainable growth within the African extractive industries.
