In a move aimed at bolstering the national economy, CNEP-Banque and the Fonds de Garantie des Crédits aux PME (FGAR) signed a cooperation agreement on January 20, 2026, to support the financing of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Algeria.
The agreement focuses on guaranteeing operating loans for SMEs, a critical sector for economic growth. This partnership aims to strengthen financing mechanisms for SMEs by providing additional guarantees for bank loans. By reducing risk, the agreement is designed to encourage banks to support this vital economic segment.
The initiative seeks to enable businesses to meet their operational needs and ensure the continuity of their activities under varying economic conditions. It is expected to significantly improve SMEs’ access to funding sources, empowering them to maintain employment levels and expand their operations. This, in turn, will positively impact economic development and promote investment activity nationwide.
This collaboration underscores the commitment of both CNEP-Banque and FGAR to supporting economic operators and strengthening the partnership between the banking sector and public guarantee mechanisms. The agreement directly contributes to Algeria’s goals of achieving sustainable growth and economic stability. The partnership is expected to have a tangible impact on the SME landscape in the coming years.
