Shares of Italian eyewear manufacturer, IVision Tech, experienced a significant surge during trading on Thursday. This followed widespread circulation of images showing Macron wearing the company’s sunglasses while delivering his address at the annual economic forum in Davos, Switzerland.
The Sunglasses and Their Price
The luxury French brand, Henry Jullien, confirmed that the sunglasses worn by President Macron are from their “Pacific S.01” model. According to the company’s official website, the glasses retail for approximately 659 euros, or around $770.
Company Attributed Rise to Media Attention
CEO of IVision Tech, Stefano Fulcher, commented on the stock surge, stating that Macron’s appearance had a “clear and direct impact” on the company’s stock performance. He attributed the surge to extensive media coverage and the rapid spread of images, which significantly boosted demand for the stock.
Market Gains and Trading Suspension
The sharp increase added approximately 3.5 million euros (around $4.1 million) to the company’s market value. The stock’s rapid ascent led the Milan Stock Exchange to temporarily suspend trading on the shares several times due to extreme volatility.
Previous Movements and Record Expectations
The stock had already gained approximately 6% during Wednesday’s session before trading was suspended for most of the day. Trading briefly resumed on Thursday morning before being suspended again. There are expectations the stock will record its largest daily gain in history.
